Lisburn and District Scouts seek adult volunteers

Friday June 26th 2015

Scout poster smLisburn and District Scouts are seeking to recruit a number of adults to take on roles within the Lisburn area, and are appealing for the help and support of all local churches, businesses, schools etc to achieve this.

Lisburn and District Scouts are the largest and fastest growing youth movement for boys and girls in the Lisburn City area. The last couple of years alone, the movement has grown by just under five per cent.

Scouting offers young people an exciting programme of activities to help them grow into useful citizens. This is delivered by an energetic, enthusiastic and talented team of adults who have almost as much fun as the young people.

Adult volunteers will receive an award winning training and support package and a load of fun working with young people across various activities. The movement can help members develop their current skills and learn new ones. Volunteering in Scouting can enhance a CV or simply allow you to pursue an interest in a specific hobby.

There are a whole range of different volunteering opportunities available within Lisburn and District.

For example:
• Leaders to work with young people at weekly meetings
• Managers to lead and support teams of adults to deliver Scouting
• Trustees to make sure property and resources are properly administered
• Instructors to run a huge range of adventurous activities
• Media and communications people to promote Scouting and improve our communication

No previous Scouting experience is needed. For further information, contact Lisburn and District Scouts on either 0845 0943251 or dc@lisburndistrictscouts.org.uk or visit the website – www.lisburndistrictscouts.org.uk

‘I wasn’t involved in Scouting until someone asked me and I jumped at the chance. Adventure isn’t just for young people or those of us already wearing neckerchiefs; it’s for everyone. There’s lots of talent among our population. . Let’s bring some of that into Scouting. Just ask – that’s all it takes.’
Bear Grylls, Chief Scout
