Event to look at church response to Syrian crisis

EMBRACE is holding an event looking at how churches respond to the crisis in Syria and provide a welcome to all those seeking refuge in Northern Ireland.

This takes place in Belfast City Hall starting at 7pm on Thursday January 28. The event is free and all are welcome.

EMBRACE is a Christian organisation which works to promote a positive response to people seeking asylum, refugees, migrant workers and minority ethnic people in Northern Ireland.

Programme:

  • Overview of the current situation – Jasper Rutherford
  • A biblical response – Richard Kerr
  • A local response – Denise Wright
  • Others who are seeking asylum – an asylum seeker tells their story
  • Destitution among people seeking asylum – Margaret McNulty
  • An example of good practice – Dave Smith of the Boaz Trust
