SUMMARY:‘Connected’ exhibition of Wichí art from Northern Argentina
DESCRIPTION:An exhibition highlighting the historical connections between the Church of Ireland and Argentina and the ongoing links between Ireland and the Wichí of Misión Chaqueña is to open in Lisburn. \nThe ‘Connected’ exhibition is a celebration of the artistry of the Wichí and the connectedness to their environment\, through textiles\, woodwork and painting. \nIt will run in the R-Space Gallery\, Castle Street\, Lisburn from October 31 (2-4pm) and Tuesday-Saturday (11am-5pm) thereafter until November 13. \nThe exhibition is being hosted by Queen’s University\, SAMS (the South American Mission Society) and the Northern Argentina based SIWOK Foundation. \nConnor Diocese is currently working with SAMS to support the Diocese of North Argentina. Launched as a Lent Project earlier this year\, the project is continuing through the Harvest season and into Advent. DESCRIPTION:This year sees the 10th anniversary of the West Trust\, and the annual lecture will be given by Miss Jane Tooher on November 5 at 7.30pm in St Nicholas Church Halls\, Belfast. \nJane’s topic is: ‘To know him better – the Knowledge of God for Men and Women.’ \nAn author\, theologian and theological educator\, Jane has also served as a church-planting women’s minister and is currently the Senior Women’s Worker and Trainer in a large suburban church in Australia. \n \n
