A concert by the Police Male Voice Choir in 1st Larne Presbyterian Church on Friday February 9 has great local interest.
The varied programme features soprano soloist Beverley McDowell who lives in Lindara. Beverley is a member of All Saints’ Church [which is jointly sponsoring the event with St Patrick’s, Cairncastle]. She moved to Larne in 2004 and is now a Sunday Club teacher as well as Secretary to the Select Vestry.
Other local artists include the highly acclaimed local organist, Rev Noel Williamson, minister of Magheramorne Presbyterian Church, and 1st Larne’s own minister, Rev Colin McClure, who will be singing in the choir. Also featuring is violinist Lynn McClelland.
Tickets [available from 1st Larne Church Office and the Larne Tourist Information Centre, or at the door on the night] are already selling extremely well for this event which gets underway at 8pm.
Proceeds will be divided between a special appeal for a new ambulance for the local branch of the St John Ambulance Brigade and the Building Funds of St Patrick’s, Cairncastle with All Saints’, Craigyhill.
Roger Thompson, rector of St Patrick’s with All Saints, commented: “We are really excited about this concert and very grateful to 1st Larne for hosting it. I love the sound of massed men’s voices and it’s great to see so many talented people from the local area taking part.”
