In the caring professions, those who work intensively with people are more effective when they themselves receive periodic support from a mentor, supervisor, line manager or counsellor.
Connor Diocese has an established system of pastoral support for individuals and groups.
The Pastoral Support for Clergy team offers support to clergy and their spouses in the areas of mediation, counselling and spiritual direction/accompaniment. Essentially the team provides a ‘safe’ place to talk with all conversations strictly confidential. The service is supported financially by the Diocese of Connor.
Following contact, there will usually be an initial assessment meeting after which options for a way forward will be available. This may be for an individual, a couple of a group. The service, in order to be effective in an ongoing sense, will be both reactive and proactive.
Pastoral Support for Clergy team coordinator is Laurie Randall. The other team members are the Rev Carol Harvey and Canon Raymond Fox.
