Mrs Moira Thom was commissioned President of Connor Mothers’ Union at a service held in St Anne's Cathedral, Belfast, on Sunday March 25.
Among those attending the service was Mrs Margaret Crawford, who has recently moved into the role of All Ireland President.
The preacher was the Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, the Rt Rev Ken Good, and the Dean of Belfast, Dean Houston McKelvey, also took part.
Mrs Thom, 50, succeeded Norma Bell in January. A mother of three, she first became involved in the MU at St Patrick’s Parish, Broughshane, and later led the Lisburn Cathedral branch.
Moira was also branch young members rep, branch enterprises rep, area MU chairperson for Lisburn and action and outreach co-ordinator for the diocese.
She moved to Christ Church Parish, Lisburn, four years ago, and said her new role was a huge honour.
