Large print magazines for Magheragall parishioners

Tuesday March 27th 2007

Magheragall parishioners who have sight problems will in future find it much easier to read the parish magazine.

In line with requirements laid out by Disability Action, magazine editor Joan Greenfield has begun publishing a number of copies in large print for the benefit of anyone with a visual impairment.

Joan first contacted the Blind Centre, Belfast, and was advised to print the text in Ariel font, minimum size 16 point.

Joan said the parish, which has an Audio Loop System installed in the church for the hearing impaired, had been looking at the whole matter of disability requirements.

She said: “I am from a social work background and am very aware of the problems for those with visual impairments. We were looking at how we can help those with hearing impairments, and our thoughts turned to how we can also help the visually impaired.”

Large text magazines will the printed to order. Copies can be reserved by signing the order list available at Magheragall Church.
