A Service of Institution for the Rev Bill Boyce was held in St Brigid’s Parish Church, Mallusk, on September 20.
A native of Coleraine, Mr Boyce grew up in St Patrick’s Parish, Coleraine, in the Diocese of Connor.
The 43-year-old trained as a civil engineer, and worked for the Department of the Environment for almost 20 years, before he was ordained to the curacy of Willowfield Parish in east Belfast, Down Diocese in 2003.
After 18 months Mr Boyce moved to Bangor Abbey, where he has remained a curate-assistant until his appointment as incumbent of Mallusk.
“I am looking forward to the challenge ahead,” he said. “I did two curacies to get wide experience but now is the time to move on.”
Mr Boyce is married to Sandra and the couple have three children and a two-year-old foster child.
