The Rev Neil Cutcliffe, rector of Mossley Parish, has been appointed a Canon of St Anne’s Cathedral by the Bishop of Connor.
Mr Cutcliffe will replace the Rev Canon Kathleen Brown who retired in September, as one of four Connor Canons in the Cathedral Chapter at St Anne’s.
The appointment was announced to parishioners at Mossley on Sunday October 21. Mr Cutcliffe will be installed as Canon in St Anne’s at a service on November 18.
He was made a deacon in 1975 and ordained priest in 1976, and has served as curate of the Church of the Redeemer in Lurgan from 1978-1980, and as imcumbent of Garrison and Belleek in Clogher Diocese from 1980-1986. The former graduate of the University of Ulster and Trinity College, Dublin, has been rector of Mossley for 21 years.
Mr Cutcliffe, who recently returned to his home and parish after taking part in a 1,000 march organised by Christian Aid to raise awareness of global warming, described his appointment as “an unexpected honour.”
