Connor Diocese has extended its Commissioned Ministers’ scheme to include the Lay Hospital Visiting team in Belfast City Hospital.
Pamela Barr and Glynis Boyland were commissioned on Monday November 26 in the hospital by the Ven Barry Dodds, Archdeacon of Belfast.
Pamela and Glynis have been given specialist training and are commissioned to support the work of the Hospital Chaplain. They both work in a voluntary capacity and spend about five hours a week visiting patients.
Commissioned Ministers are individuals identified by their parish and then commissioned by the diocese to work in a range of roles within their parish.
The Commissioned Ministers’s scheme is part of the diocesan strategy to promote team ministry in all parishes. There are 57 Commissioned Ministers working in 12 parishes in Connor Diocese and a further nine to be commissioned over the next few weeks.
