The Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev Alan Abernethy, will be the special guest at the Port of Larne Carol Service which takes place on Monday December 17.
Bishop Alan will be giving the address at the service which takes place in the middle of the main terminal building during one of the busiest weeks for travellers passing through the port.
The Service is organised by P&O Irish Sea, Stena Line, and the Port of Larne, with readings given by representatives of each of these companies and a representative of the Harbour Area Residents in Larne.
Children from St MacNissi’s (RC) primary school, and Cairncastle Primary School will read Christmas poems and sing a number of the songs from their school Christmas productions. In addition the primary school children will have taken part in a competition making the decorations which hang on the Port Christmas tree.
The service is attended by many of the people who ensure the smooth running of the port, including the Port Manager, office and publicity personnel, and those who work on both the docks and on board the ferries.
It will be business as usual in the port as the service takes place, with passengers buying their tickets, and ferry traffic arriving and leaving, so this is very much a “Carol Service in the Market Place”.
The service gets underway at 6.45pm.
