Connor Council for Mission launches new Mission Support Fund

Friday January 18th 2008

Connor Council for Mission has launched a new Mission Support Fund to assist people wanting to be more involved in mission both at home and overseas.

The Council wants to deepen a sense of mission throughout all parishes within the Diocese but has found the enthusiasm of many individuals keen to get involved is often dampened by a lack of resources to complete the task.

Applications to the Mission Support Fund are welcome from any individual who seeks to become actively involved in mission either in Ireland or around the world.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate active membership of the Church of Ireland and belong to a parish within the Diocese of Connor.

Initial applications should in writing using the ‘Mission Support Fund Application Form.’ All applications will be considered and a response made in writing.   Applicants may be required to attend an interview.

Grants will be awarded to successful applicants by April 30 each year. Applications should reach Connor Council for Mission by the March 1 each year.

All applicants will be required to provide Connor Council for Mission with a written reference from their rector in support of their application.

Anyone interested should understand that the aim of the Fund is to make a percentage contribution towards the expense of the proposed mission activity. In no cases will the fund provide 100 per cent of the estimated cost. In all cases the decision of Connor Council for Mission will be final.

Grants will be paid by cheque made in the name of the applicant.

Anyone who completes their proposed mission activity will be asked to provide Connor Council for Mission with a short report, including details of how the mission activity has benefited the applicant.
