Carrying the Cross in Lisburn

At the start of the march of witness are the Rev Brian Gibson, Rev Kenneth McGrath, Fr Dermot McCaughan, Rev John Brackenridge), Rev Brian Anderson, Pastor George Hilary (Lisburn Christian Fellowship) and Rev Paul Dundas.The annual Good Friday ‘Carrying of the Cross’ march of witness was held in Lisburn city centre on March 21.

The procession gathered at the lower end of Bow Street then made its way along Bow Street to Market Square for a short act of worship led by the Lisburn City Centre Ministers.

Taking part in the procession and act of worship were the Rev Kenneth McGrath (Lisburn Cathedral), the Rev John Brackenridge (First Lisburn), Fr Dermot McCaughan (St Patrick’s), Pastor George Hilary (Lisburn Christian Fellowship), the Rev Brian Anderson (Seymour Street), Rev Brian Gibson (Railway Street), the Rev Dianne Matchett (Christ Church) and the Rev Paul Dundas (Christ Church).

Pictured during the singing of ‘When I survey the wondrous cross’ are Lisburn City Centre Ministers: Rev Kenneth McGrath, Rev John Brackenridge, Fr Dermot McCaughan, Pastor George Hilary, Rev Brian Anderson, Rev Brian Gibson, Rev Dianne Matchett  and the Rev Paul Dundas.The verse of Scripture printed on the programme issued to all gathered for the short act of worship, highlighted the reason for the season, “I have come that they might have life, and have it to the full”.

The Easter hymns sang were ‘When I survey the wondrous cross’ and ‘Amazing Grace’.

The Rev Brian Anderson, minister of Seymour Street Methodist, chose as the subject for his Good Friday address: “Nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus”.
