Unmasked, which takes place over the Hallowe’en period, is a week of special events organised by Cloughfern Parish Church, Newtownabbey.
It aims to unmask the true meaning of life and to help people explore what is behind the Christian Faith with no pressure and no fuss, just guaranteed fun and friendship and a chance for everyone to think about life without a mask.
Leading the programme of events are Roger Murphy of Through Faith Missions, Paul Hoey, CPSA Ministry Consultant and ordained member of the Church of Ireland, and Paul Woodman, a full time leader in City Life Church, Southampton.
Events get underway with a firework display and barbecue on October 25 in the church hall and grounds, starting at 6.30pm. The Ascension Players present ‘Rubbish’ a humourous observation of rubbish bins, on October 26 at 7pm in the church hall; a boys’ only night on October 27, while the following day there is a seniors lunch, a pampering evening for women only and a five-aside football competition on the Valley Leisure Centre 3G pitches for12-16-year-old and over 17s. Other events include Masqueraders’ kids club, flower and craft club, healing service, salsa evening, table quiz, cinema trip, Great Escape family show, men’s breakfast, a masked ball and pirates’ adventure golf.
Unmasked concludes with an Invitation Service and a Praise Service of Thanksgiving on Sunday November 2.
Most events are free, and all events include a short presentation of the Christian message.
