Age-Ability Committee hosts seminar on Dementia
A reminder that Connor Age-Ability Committee is hosting a seminar on dementia on Wednesday October 22 in Templepatrick.
The seminar follows the publication of the committee’s autumn 2007 report on Dementia entitled “Ageing Minds – Caring Church,” which aimed to broaden people’s understanding a condition that is increasingly common.
Entitled ‘The Pastoral and Spiritual Care of People with Dementia,’ the seminar will be led by the Rev Dr Heather Morris, Director of Ministry at Edgehill Theological College, Belfast. Dr Morris has a strong interest in practical care and pastoral theology.
The seminar will aim to prepare clergy and others involved in pastoral care to minister to those with dementia and will address:
(a) The nature of dementia.
(b) What are the spiritual needs of someone with dementia?
(c) Pastoral responses.
The seminar takes place between 10am and 12.30pm on October 22 in the Templeton Hotel, Templepatrick. Places must be pre-booked.
