‘Keeping religion out of politics: Reflections on the American experience’ is the title of the next Tuesday lunchtime lecture at St Bartholomew’s.
Part of an ongoing series of lunchtime lectures, it will be delivered in the church in Stranmillis Road, Belfast at 1.10 pm on Tuesday November 4.
Coinciding with the date of the American presidential election, the lecture will be given by Doug Smith, Director of the organisation Youth Initiative.
In recent presidential elections, the Christian faith of one or more of the presidential and vice-presidential candidates has featured prominently. In Europe, however, politicians are sometimes more reticent about making links between their faith and their political convictions.
Given the contrast between the two continents, Doug Smith’s lecture could give much food for thought.
