Connor MU Diocesan President Moira Thom, white coat, centre, and her team all set for the start of their marathon walk on Monday May 4.Once again members of Connor MU have put their best feet forward and participated in the walk stage of the annual Belfast marathon.

Moira Thom, Diocesan President, led an enthusiastic team on the nine mile Bank Holiday Monday walk to raise funds for the MU Relief Fund. This offers emergency support to families all over the world in times of natural or man – made disaster such as flood, famine, earthquake or refugees from war.

Working in local communities, the MU can offer immediate assistance to families whose lives have met with adversity. Emergency food supplies, blankets and other essential items can be sourced locally and distributed quickly to those in need.

The jubilant - if a little footsore - team at the end of the nine mile walk.In the first three months of this year, £83,000 has been sent to various parts of the world where there is need. Some has gone to Uganda, Sudan and the Congo where refugees have fled from fighting. Bottled water and clothes were needed after floods in Fiji while severe drought in Burundi, Tanzania and Kenya has caused food shortages and famine.

The funds raised by Moira and her team will greatly boost the work being done by the MU Relief Fund.
