Representatives of youth groups at Holy Trinity Woodburn receive the Danny Nolan Memorial Trophy from the NEELB.Holy Trinity Woodburn, Carrickfergus, has received a prestigious award from the North Eastern Education and Library Board (NEELB).

The parish has been awarded the Danny Nolan Memorial Trophy for its youth work and its contribution to the social and personal development of young people within the various organisations in the Church

The panel awarded the trophy jointly to the BB, GB and the Youth Club.

The late Danny Nolan was Area Youth Officer for Newtownabbey, Larne and Carrickfergus for many years and the memorial perpetual trophy awarded each year in his honour goes to a youth group in that area which has demonstrated consistently high standards of work in the social development of young people throughout the year.

The judging panel, made up of local youth workers and Area Youth Officer for East Antrim Davey Norris, who regularly visit registered youth organisations, were particularly impressed by the excellent relationship between the adults and young people in the GB, BB and youth club which they had observed during their visits to Holy Trinity Woodburn. A spokesman for the Board said: “The commitment and enthusiasm of the adults working with all the different age groups in the club and the quality of the curriculum and programmes offered to the young people were the deciding factors.”
