Pastoral Care in a Mission Context

Course tutor is Sister Valerie Thom.Connor Diocese is running another series of seminars introducing pastoral visiting.

The course, Pastoral Care in a Mission context – An introduction to Pastoral Visiting – will commence on September 30, running from 7.30pm – 9.30pm each evening, continuing on October 7, 14, 21 and 28. The venue is Holy Trinity Parish Halls, Ballysillan, Belfast.

Sessions will include:
 What is pastoral care? What about the mission context?
 Pastoral care and the mission of the Church. Small groups and pastoral care.
 Pastoral care in the context of mission, sickness, healing and salvation.
 Qualities and skills. Listening and referring, avoiding dependency, caring for the team and the limits of pastoral care.
 Loss, death and bereavement.

The sessions will include a mixture of teaching, group discussion and activities, and will be very relaxed and good fun.
