A trio of artistic young people is running a school of performing arts based at Holy Trinity Parish Church, Woodburn, Carrickfergus.
Founder of upLift is Ryan Moffett, who was born and bred in Carrickfergus and grew up attending Holy Trinity Woodburn.
For the past three years Ryan has toured the world as the only Northern Irish member of the Young Americans, a performing arts group in based in the USA. He has now decided to use his talents and open a performing arts school at home.
With the help of his friends Amy Anderson and Carlee Sounart, the school has been up and running since October 10. Ryan said that through the different classes in voice, dance and stagecraft, upLift aims to build up students’ self-confidence while increasing their knowledge and ability in performing arts.
He said: “All the members of staff at upLift have had many years of training in all areas of performance, and strive to make sure the students at upLift learn in a fun and practical manner.”
Classes for anyone aged three to adult are held in Holy Trinity Woodburn every Saturday and the charge is £5 per class.
UpLift also offers workshops which incorporate a fun mix of dance, voice and stagecraft classes plus a bonus performance class.
