CMS Ireland to launch ‘Discover’ resource

Friday November 12th 2010

DiscoverCMS Ireland will soon be launching an exciting new resource to help churches and small groups engage in mission.

Discover emerged out of an extensive consultation process, undertaken by CMS Ireland in 2005 with its members and support parishes. This highlighted a clear need to invest significantly in mission education – to help move mission from the margins to the centre of parish life.

Discover is designed to help groups think about and talk about mission from a biblical perspective. The programme comprises seven sessions, each focusing on a key part of the biblical story of mission. The pack includes a DVD, with seven short video introductions, a book providing background reading material, a discussion guide for each session and a website (www.discovermission.org), featuring a wealth of support material.

Speaking about the launch, CMS Ireland’s Mission Resource Manager, Roger Cooke, said:  “Discover has been a labour of love for the last few years and we’re really thrilled to be finally launching it. This resource has huge potential to help people engage with biblical foundations of mission.”

Discover will be launched at two special events, which will each showcase the different elements of the resource. The event in Belfast Bible College  on November 22 2010 will include contributions from the College’s Principal, David Shepherd, Bishop Ken Clarke and CMS Ireland’s new Mission Director, Ronnie Briggs.

At the second launch, in Church House, Dublin on November 23 Ronnie will be joined by Dr Maurice Elliot from the Church of Ireland Theological Institute.

Both events begin at 8pm and all are welcome.
