St Andrew’s, Glencairn, celebrated a milestone on November 28 when it marked its 40th anniversary.
The foundation stone of the church was laid in1970 by The Right Reverend Arthur Butler, Bishop of Connor, and the Reverend James Davison, President of the Methodist Church in Ireland.
A large number of former parishioners attended Morning Worship and were entertained to a light lunch afterwards by the ladies of the parish. Music was by Awakening, and the Reverend Jim Rea, former President of the Methodist Church and recently retired Minister of Shankill Methodist, was the preacher. Awakening made a welcome return visit after a gap of six years.
During the service, Mrs Ella Horner, founder member and organist for 40 years, was presented with a bunch of flowers by Mrs Ena Gillespie, also a founder member, on behalf of the Church.
