The Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev Alan Abernethy, is back to work following a lengthy illness.
Bishop Alan and his wife Liz joined the Connor Diocesan Pilgrimage to the Holy Land which ran from March 22 until April 1, and said afterwards the trip had been a ‘source of great inspiration and encouragement’ to him.
He returned to duties as Bishop on Sunday April 3, and paid tribute to his secretary Rosemary Patterson for maintaining the smooth running of the office during his absence. Bishop Alan also thanked his commissary, Archdeacon Stephen McBride, and Archdeacons Barry Dodds and Stephen Forde for their assistance to the commissary.
The Bishop expressed gratitude to all those who had sent him cards, letters, emails and telephone messages with their prayers and good wishes. “I have been very conscious of the love and prayers of many,” he said.
