Forthcoming training events

James Lawrence of CPAS will lead a talk on Growing Leaders on June 10.A number of training events, relating to both pastoral care and growing leaders, are coming up in Connor Diocese.

‘Refresh and Revive’ is an evening for pastoral visitors and clergy. This takes place on Tuesday May 17 from 7.30pm until 9.30pm in Antrim Parish Halls. Guest speaker is Helen Clarke and places are filling up quickly.

Helen with discuss topics including: Biblical basis for caring; If only you would listen … and Compassion with boundaries.

Helen trained as a nurse and as a counsellor/trainer and is a Myers Briggs Practitioner.  Her particular interest is in encouraging younger leaders in their personal development and spiritual growth. Helen grew up in a ministry home in Cork and has been involved in ministry with her husband Ken both north and south of the border and in Chile. They are based in Cavan.

Dr Dickie Barr from Love for Life will lead a seminar on pastoral Care around Sensitive Issues, again in Antrim Parish Halls, from 10am until 3.30pm on Tuesday May 24.

He will look at what the Bible says about sex, the current cultural perspective around sex and whether this concurs or conflicts with a Biblical model, and how we respond pastorally to the situations we face in our church communities.

Dr Barr works in General Practice in Moira and has contributed in the past to Pastoral Care training in Belfast Bible College. He also has been involved for many years with Love for Life, a charitable organisation with the vision of influencing change within society so that young people have a healthy respect for themselves, relationships and sex.

James Lawrence on CPAS is the guest speaker at a Growing Leaders event on Friday June 10. The venue is again Antrim Parish Halls and the day gets underway at 10am and finishes at 3pm.
