The summer holidays will be anything but boring for children in Coleraine with St Patrick’s Parish Church planning a three-week long Holiday Club.
The club will run from 10am to 3pm from Monday to Friday for the first three weeks in August, and will be open to all children aged 4-13 whether they live in the area or are just there on holiday.
The theme is ‘Stop, Luke and Listen,’ and youth leader Alice McAlary said all the teaching would be from St Luke. As well as worship and Bible study, the children will be able to enjoy a variety of activities including games, arts and crafts, cookery and sport.
Young people can come for just a day or for the entire three weeks. Alice said the three-week club has been planned following consultation with families. Older teenagers will be welcome to volunteer to help run the club.
Alice added: “This is a pilot and I would like to see it happen in every town in Northern Ireland because there is a definite need for it. It is Christian childcare which involves all the family.”
A parent and toddler group will run from 10am to 12 noon each day during the Holiday Club.
