St Anne’s Cathedral’s Remembrance Day service at 11am on Sunday November 11 was, as usual, attended by military medical and nursing staff.
This year the service was especially poignant for personnel of the 204 Field Hospital who are preparing for final training before being deployed in Afghanistan in January.
The sermon was delivered by the Dean of Belfast, the Very Rev John Mann, and this can be downloaded in full here.
At 3pm that day church choirs from around Belfast joined the choir of St Anne’s Cathedral in singing Gabriel Fauré’s beautiful ‘Requiem as part of a service to commemorate Remembrance Sunday.
They included the choirs of St Peter’s Roman Catholic Cathedral, the Presbyterian Church as well as a number of Church of Ireland parish choirs.
