Christ Church, Lisburn, hosts Bishop’s third Lent talk

The Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev Alan Abernethy, has completed his three Lent talks on the topic of the Ministry of Healing, and will now lead Healing Services in each of Connor’s Archdeaconries.

The third talk took place in Christ Church, Lisburn, on Monday February 25, and there was again an excellent attendance of people from different parishes in the south of the diocese. All were welcomed by the rector of Christ Church, the Rev Paul Dundas, who opening the evening with a short act of worship.

Bishop Alan speaking in Christ Church, Lisburn.In his talk, Bishop Alan looked at contrasting attitudes within the church to this ministry and highlighted some Biblical reflections, looked at healing and the Kingdom of God, suggested some ways we can seek help in this area, and shared his own thoughts on the Ministry of Healing.

As usual there was time for refreshment and fellowship as people from different areas enjoyed this opportunity to get together.

Bishop Alan’s Lent series continues with services on Tuesday March 5 in St John the Baptist, Bushmills; Monday March 11 in St Patrick, Jordanstown; and Tuesday March 19 in Christ Church, Lisburn.
