Simon Callow is ‘The Man Jesus’ at the Lyric Theatre
‘The Man Jesus’ by Matthew Hurt makes its world premiere at Belfast’s Lyric Theatre in a production running from April 3–20.
One of the leading stage and screen actors of his generation, Simon Callow takes on the role of his life in a deeply moving new play that examines the character of Jesus.
Promotional material for the production reads: “Look at Jesus through the eyes of those around him: his mother, brother and followers, the political and religious elite. What do you see? The Son of God or a Jewish Terrorist? A poet–philosopher or a fraud? Whoever the man Jesus was, he inspired the history of the world.”
