St George’s celebrates 400th anniversary of birth of Jeremy Taylor

Jeremy Taylor, fomrer Bishop of Down and Connor, who was born 400 years ago.St George’s Parish Church, Belfast, will be hosting a Celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Birth of Jeremy Taylor from September 20–22.

An exciting series of events will mark 400 years since the birth of Taylor, a former Bishop of Down and Connor.

Events get underway on Friday September 20 with a lecture by CDC Armstrong in St George’s at 7.30pm, followed by a reception in the parish hall.

On Saturday September 21 there will be a Pilgrimage in the footsteps of Taylor. At 11.00 am Morning Prayer will be held in St John’s, Malone, followed by a tour including the Middle Church, Ballinderry, Portmore and Dromore Cathedral. with Evening Prayer in Dromore Cathedral at 3.30pm.

At Choral Evensong in St George’s Church at 5pm on Sunday September 22, the preacher will be the Rt Rev Samuel Poyntz, former Bishop of Connor
