The Good Book Shop, in Donegall Street, Belfast, is to close by the end of February.
A statement by the Board of Directors of the Good Book Shop reads: “It is with great regret that the Board of Directors of The Good Book Shop, based at Church of Ireland House, Belfast, announce that the shop will close in early 2014.
“At an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Company held on December 4 2013, the decision was taken unanimously by the members that, having considered all other options to retain The Good Book Shop as a viable concern, it shall close no later than February 28 next year.
“The Good Book Shop has faithfully served the people of the Church of Ireland and beyond for many years and the members and directors acknowledge with deep gratitude the hard work, loyalty and dedication given by the staff during that time. It is appropriate that alternative mechanisms for the future distribution of materials unique to the Church of Ireland should now be examined.”
