Applications for grant aid from Connor Mission Support Fund are now invited from anyone planning a mission activity at home or overseas.
Connor Council for Mission is keen to deepen a sense of mission throughout all parishes within the diocese, and recognises that many people would like to get involved but that enthusiasm can be often be dampened by a lack of resources.
Applicants can be individuals or parish groups. They must belong to a parish within the Diocese of Connor and must demonstrate active membership of the Church of Ireland. Applicants must provide a written reference from their rector.
The Fund will make a percentage contribution towards costs of a mission activity, but will not fund an activity in its entirety.
Applications must be submitted by Friday May 23 2014 and grant awards will be announced on June 30.
Last year awards were made to Claire Mulligan of Woodburn Parish, Grace Park of Magheragall Parish and members of the Connor Diocesan Yei team.
Claire was a leader for a Fields of Life Schools camp in Kampala and North West Uganda in July 2013, while Grace participated in a one year internship with Interserve as an Advocacy and Management Advisor to workers’ and teachers’ organisations in Cambodia.
The Connor META team which visited Connor’s partner diocese of Yei in South Sudan was involved in clergy, youth and teacher training and healthcare support.
Awards can range from £200 to £700, but the level of award made can depend on the total number of applications received, as the Connor Council for Mission has a fixed sum available for distribution.
