Connor MU is putting on exhibition of needlework and computer art to celebrate the 2014 General Meeting of the Mothers’ Union which is taking place in Belfast.
The exhibition by members of Connor Diocese is on ‘Sowing the future together,’ the 2014 theme of MU.
It will run in the Ambulatory in St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast, from Tuesday June 17 until Sunday June 22.
The General Meeting of the Mothers’ Union takes place in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall on June 20 and 21, with more than 1,300 members and supporters converging on the city from all over the UK and Ireland, as well as much further afield.
The General Meeting is an annual event for Mothers’ Union and rotates around the five Provinces of Canterbury, Wales, Ireland, Scotland and York. It was held in Dublin in 2006 and was last in Belfast in 2000
An ‘Eve of Meeting’ service will be held on Friday June 20 in St Anne’s Cathedral, and the Archbishop of Armagh, the Most Rev Richard Clarke will be the speaker. This is a ticketed service and is fully subscribed.
The General Meeting in the Waterfront on Saturday 21 begins at 10.30am and will feature presentations by Reg Bailey CBE, Chief Executive of Mothers’ Union, and Lynne Tembey, the current Worldwide President. The special guest speakers for the event will be the Rev Chris Bennett, Chaplain at the Titanic Quarter in Belfast, who will speak about his unique outreach in that area and Andy Kind, the popular Christian writer.

The meeting is open to members, friends and supporters and all are encouraged to come and hear about the life–changing work of Mothers’ Union across the world as it seeks to support and improve the lives of families everywhere.
