The team from Christ Church, Lisburn, which on Friday attended the opening of staff accommodation at St Apollo School in Luwero, Uganda, is en route home.

The 14-strong team left Uganda on Sunday March 1 after worshipping at St John’s, Kiwoko.

The rector of Christ Church, the Rev Paul Dundas, who is with the team, said: “We have had a blessed and encouraging week at the school community through the practical work, RE lessons, health card programme, women’s time together and the I AM girl project. We had a sports day on Thursday morning.”

The staff accommodation project was funded by Christ Church parish, which had previously raised money for the building of classrooms at St Apollo, and the team helped prepare the new staff building for use.  It was opened on Friday by Paul, assisted by the Bishop elect of Luwero, Canon Eridard.

“The greatest blessing was the celebration day on Friday,” Paul said, adding: “We enjoyed the meal provided and the children who sang.

“We thank you for your prayers and look forward to being home at tea time on Monday to be reunited
