Anyone involved in leading children’s ministry in Connor Diocese is invited to attend a fun, hands-on training session to help equip them for their role.

Equipped! has been organised by diocesan children’s project worker Jill Hamilton, and will be held in All Saints’ Parish Centre, Antrim, on Saturday May 16.

The programme begins at 9.30am with registration and tea or coffee, followed at 10am by child friendly worship. Jill has organised four workshops, and participants are asked to select two. They will take part in their first workshop at 10.30am, and stop for brunch at 11.30am.

Ripple smThe second workshops get underway at 12.15pm, there will be a review of the morning at 1.15pm and the training will finish at 1.30pm.

Jill described the day was as “a practical ‘hands-on’ morning with a creative atmosphere, to help you leave refreshed, invigorated and excited about your children’s ministry!”

Participants can chose from two of the following workshops:

  • Puppet training (Karen Webb and John O’Neill)
This session will include basic puppet manipulation skills, performance and how to start a puppet team.
  • Creative Prayer ideas (Aimee Jess)
This workshop is aimed at giving you some practical ideas to encourage prayer in the lives of children. Join us as we explore ways to creatively talk to God through a variety of interactive prayer stations.
  • Storytelling and drama (Andrew Neill and Chris Neilands)
Everyone loves a story and we can all learn to tell a good story. Come along and get some simple tips and skills to help you engage children with the Bible through drama and stories.
  • Messy Church (Jill Hamilton)
Join our ‘Mini Messy Church’ session on the theme of God’s love. Get stuck into a range of crafts and challenges and don’t be afraid to get messy!

To register, please email jill@connor.anglican.org with your name, parish and two workshop choices before Friday May 8. Cost of the day is £10 and this includes brunch and all workshop resources. Payment can be made on the day.
