The Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev Alan Abernethy, is now more than half way through his Lent Seminar Series on the topic of Effecting Change.

His second seminar in St Patrick’s, Jordanstown, on Monday March 9 attracted a full house of some 150 people. Bishop Alan’s next Lent talk will be in Dunluce Parish Centre, Bushmills, on Wednesday March 18.

The Bishop’s first talk, which he delivered in each of Connor’s three archdeaconries, focused on the theology of change.

Change, Bishop Alan stated, is at the heart of human life and it is also part of any faith journey as individuals and community.

In his second seminar Bishop Alan speaks about learning from others, about resisting change, both appropriately and inappropriately, about openness, respect, wisdom and about leading gently.

The Gospel, Bishop Alan states, not only enables change, but is the root and key to all change. He reflects on managing change in the church, and finally looks at some of the issues facing church today.

The Bushmills Lent seminar gets underway at 7.30pm on March 18 and there will be the usual break for refreshments and fellowship. The final seminar for 2015 takes place on Tuesday March 24 in Christ Church, Lisburn.
