More than 200 people from parishes within North Belfast Rural Deanery, Diocese of Connor, gathered at St Ninian’s Church, Whitewell Road, on Sunday May 24 for a joint worship service to celebrate Pentecost.
The evening service was led by the rector of St Ninian’s, the Rev Elaine O’Brien, and a combined choir from the various parishes led the congregational singing as well as performing the uplifting anthem, Holy Spirit Living Breath of God, by Getty/Townsend.
The Music Group from Greenisland Church, including organist Marjorie McClung, pianist Dr Norman Close and choir master for the night Maurice Carson also helped to lead the worship. Along with the Rev Jonny Campbell-Smyth, curate, St Patrick’s, Jordanstown.
During the service three people spoke of their journey in the Christian life. Prayers were led by the Rev Mercia Malcolm, Carnmoney Parish, and Rev Brian Lacey, St Peter and St James, delivered a very encouraging Epilogue.
After the service a time of fellowship and supper was held in the Church Hall.
