The Mission to Seafarers is one of five nominated charities for the Tall Ships Races which visit Belfast Docks from July 2-5.

Chaplain, the Rev Colin Hall-Thompson, said this was a chance to not only collect funds for the Mission, but to be available to the crews of up to 60 sail ships and to profile the Mission to Seafarers to up to 500,000 visitors.

“A great opportunity to highlight the love of God for seafarers and people of all backgrounds, nationalities and creeds,” said Colin.

From Thursday July 2 – Saturday July 4, from 10am-5pm each day, the Mission to Seafarers will be offering ‘Tea at Sea’ at the Flying Angel Centre, Princes Dock Street, beside the main Port gate.

“We desperately need volunteers for all manner of duties for the ‘Tea at Sea,’ from serving and tidying up in our centre to helping to man the two marquees at the Tall Ships Event. We particularly need people who are willing to help collect among the public,” said Colin.

Anyone interested in volunteering for the Mission over the course of the Tall Ships Race is asked to contact Doreen on 028 9075 1131 or email Doreen@missiontoseafarers-ni.org.
