As part of its 200th anniversary celebrations Billy Parish Church hosted a wedding festival over the weekend of September 11-13.
The festival started with a Friday night opening service when the rector, the Rev John Anderson, gave a potted history of the wedding dress. The congregation then had the opportunity to view the 52 dresses dating from 1872 to the present day.
During Saturday and Sunday more than 600 visitors came to enjoy the event, which was beautifully designed and laid out throughout the whole church by Heather McKerr of Velvet Ribbon Weddings and Events who generously volunteered her time and expertise.
On Sunday morning a joint service with Billy’s sister parish of Derrykeighan meant that the church was nearly full.
John said: “It was a wonderful weekend with lots of hard work leading up to it.”
