The Rev Jonny Campbell-Smyth, curate assistant at St Patrick’s, Jordanstown, will travel to Chile on March 15 to spend a week in the capital Santiago,

He will be accompanied by Bishop Ken (Fanta) Clarke, mission director of SAMS (South America Mission.

“The purpose of the trip is to understand and develop stronger links with our new partner Church, Santiago Apóstol,” Jonny explained.  “Through the SAMS Intern Programme, we as a parish built a new relationship with Rocio Castro Bravo. Rocio’s home church is La Trinidad, and it is through La Trinidad that Pastor Cristóbal Cerón was set to plant an Anglican church in Santiago city centre in order to reach students, young professionals and others.”

Jonny said Cristóbal and Assistant Pastor Max Diaz already have healthy links with SAMS. “The hope is through St Patrick’s we can create a long lasting partnership by awareness of their context, prayer for their needs, provision for their ministry and equipping teams to both go to South America and come to Jordanstown.”

Whilst in Chile, Fanta and Jonny will also attend the consecration of two new Bishops, one of whom has family links with Jordanstown’s new partner church.

Jonny’s full itinerary and a number of prayer points are included in a Prayer Letter which can be downloaded here.
