The Rev Gary Millar had a surprise day off on Sunday June 26 when the congregations of Portglenone and St Colmanell’s, Ahoghill, came up with plans to mark the 25th anniversary of their rector’s ordination.

The Church Warden’s wife in St Colmanell’s had organised a visiting preacher to take the service. Gary knew nothing about this until the Church Warden asked to make an announcement and told him to go and sit down as he was having the morning off!

Gary said: “The Rev Adam Quigley, Curate in Castlerock, walked into the church and took the service. Adam and his wife Marilyn were my youth fellowship leaders and influential in my call to ministry.”
