The Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev Alan Abernethy, had another 100th birthday to celebrate this week when he paid a visit to Mrs Stella McMillan from Carnmoney Parish on Thursday.
Stella was 100 on January 24, and it was a busy day for her with family and friends who called to see her at Ashwood House Nursing Home. She was really delighted to receive her 100th card from Her Majesty The Queen.
Stella, who was predeceased by her husband Jim many years ago, was a Sunday School leader in Carnmoney Parish for more than 40 years and was a very well known figure locally as she worked for many years in McMillan’s Newsagents in Glengormley.
The Rev Mercia Malcolm, Vicar of Carnmoney, said Stella was ‘an amazing woman.’
“She is extremely bright and alert and has made lots of friends in the nursing home. She is such an example of simply being content where you are, and is very well known and loved in both the church and the wider community.”
