Sign up for Summer Madness!

Wednesday May 17th 2017

There is still time for young people across Connor Diocese to book their place on the annual Summer Madness camp taking place from June 30-July 4 at Glenarm.

If you haven’t signed up yet, and would like to know about what you are missing, just check out the Summer Madness Facebook Page, where, to celebrate 30 years of this great festival, 30 campers from years gone by reflect on their fondest memories of Summer Madness.

They include our own Diocesan Youth Officer Christina Baillie, who remembers big smiles and closed eyes during photo sessions inside the tent when laughter was the order of the day, and the Rev Barry Forde, chaplain at Queen’s University, who bused it to Enniskillen and after waiting for three hours trying to work out how to get to the camp at Castle Archdale ended up being chauffeured there in the back of a blacked-out RUC van! Just a few years ago!

Sharon Hamill of the Church of the Resurrection shares some thoughts on what it is like to be a leader at Summer Madness.

You can see their videos below.

For information on how to get involved in Summer Madness visit the website at www.summermadness.co.uk.

As it has done for the past number of years, Connor Youth Council will endeavour to serve young people coming from across the diocese through hospitality and will provide meals on Saturday, Sunday and Monday evenings.

Christina said: “Whether you are camping for the whole experience or just coming for a day, please join with us as the Connor Youth community to share some top quality food. The Rev Canon Mark Taylor will once again be facilitating this and the Youth Council are very thankful. We will also have hot chocolate each evening for groups who are camping at the festival.”

The Youth Council will be offering breakfast and lunch for groups camping at the festival for £10 per person for the duration. Groups can choose to just avail of the dinners for free or go all in and pay £10pp and have all their food catered.

Leaders just need to contact Christina with their group numbers, any dietary requirements and which meals they will be included for. Please email christina@connor.anglican.org
