Building relationships in Ballynure & Ballyeaston

Settling in for a fun afternoon at the rectory.

The United Parish of Ballynure & Ballyeaston (Ballyclare) hosted a number of community social outreach events over the weekend of June 25 & 26.

The purpose of the events, and many more planned for the future, is to reach out to families in the parish and the wider community.

Early on Saturday morning, people gathered in St John’s Halls for a hearty fry-up and followed by the chance to watch the Lions vs the All Blacks rugby.

Then on Sunday afternoon, young and old gathered in the grounds of the Rectory where the barbecues were lit and the rector, the Rev Jonny Campbell-Smyth cooked for around 70 people.

Jonny said: “There was a great buzz as people relaxed and chatted. There was also plenty to keep the kids entertained with bouncy castles, assault courses, slushie machines and popcorn.”

He added: “It has been a great weekend in which the church community reached out to families. It’s been exhausting bringing it all together, and yet the rewards in building relationships are so important. My thanks go to the many parishioners who made this weekend so special.”
