New rambling group in Kilbride Parish

Monday August 14th 2017

The newly-formed rambling group of St Bride’s Parish Church, Kilbride, had its first outing to Whitehead on Wednesday August 9.

The 20 ramblers enjoyed the superb views from the Blackhead lighthouse near Whitehead, walking along the coastal path and up a considerable number of steps to the vantage point, with views to the Copeland Islands, the north Down coast and Scotland.

The weather was warm and it was an almost cloudless sky which made for an enjoyable walk. A short car journey took everyone to the Rinkha for a well-earned coffee or ice cream.

The group’s next outing will be on Wednesday August 16 when members head to Ballyboley forest where there is a choice of five different walks around the forest.

Walkers should meet at 6pm in the Square car park in Ballyclare.
