Tuesday August 22nd 2017

The Rt Rev Henry Orombi addresses the Convention.

Four hundred people gathered in St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast, on Saturday night (August 19) for the opening night of this year’s Bangor Worldwide Missionary Convention.

The event, chaired by the Rt Rev Harold Miller, Bishop of Down and Dromore, marked the Convention’s first visit to the Cathedral and featured stands from a wide range of mission agencies.

The Rt Rev Henry Orombi, formerly Archbishop of Uganda, and the Very Rev Dr Trevor Morrow, from the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, spoke on the theme of ‘Our World, God’s Word.’

The Rev Jonny Campbell-Smyth, rector of Ballynure and Ballyeaston, helped lead the praise.

Worship was led by Suzanne Bennett and New Irish Arts.  The event closed in prayer for mission and church growth across the city of Belfast.

The convention is continuing at Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church, in Bangor, until Saturday August 26, with satellite events at St Saviour’s Parish Church, Dollingstown, and Union Road Presbyterian Church, Magherafelt.  More information is available at www.worldwidemission.org
