Beverley undertakes Cancer Research UK’s Great Row!

Cloghfern parishioner Mrs Beverley Lockhart, hard at work completing Cancer Research UK’s fundraising Great Row.

Spare a thought for Mrs Beverley Lockhart, wife of the Rev David, rector of Cloughfern, who is this month rowing a marathon to raise funds for Cancer Research UK!

Thankfully Beverley hasn’t had to set foot in a boat (a chilly thought), but has been clocking up the miles on a rowing machine based on dry land in DW Sports, Newtownabbey.

Across the country, others are taking part in Cancer Research UK’s The Great Row, aiming to each row the equivalent of a marathon between March 1 and 31.

Beverley has very personal reasons for taking part in this challenge to raise vital funds for the charity. Her father Edwin died in February 2012 from cancer and it was around his anniversary that the advert popped up on her Facebook page and Beverley ‘in a moment of madness’ (her words!) decided to give it a go!

Beverley has a Justgiving page connected to her Facebook page and a sponsor form at the back of church.

With just 17kms left to row, Beverley hopes to complete her marathon effort by Holy Week.
