Bishop Alan is interviewed by television personality Claire McCollum at St Mark’s during Holy Week – or should that be the other way round?!

The Bishop of Connor, the Rt Rev Alan Abernethy, spent time with some of the clergy and parishes in the Mid-Belfast Rural Deanery during Holy Week.

One high profile engagement was an interview session with Claire McCollum, well known BBC presenter of Songs of Praise, Proms in the Park and many other popular events and shows.

This was held in St Mark’s Church, Ligoneil Road, on Tuesday March 27. Priest-in-Charge of St Mark’s, the Rev Campbell Dixon MBE, said: “I had invited Claire to interview the Bishop as part of the Holy Week activities in mid/north Belfast but I think Bishop Alan turned the tables now and again!

“It was lovely to welcome parishioners from all the parishes in the area and many commented warmly of the relaxed and engaging conversations as both spoke of their spiritual journeys in the context of Lent and Easter.”

On Monday March 26 Bishop Alan preached at Evening Worship in St Michael’s in Craven Street.
