Habitat for Humanity building project in Ballymena

Monday June 18th 2018

From June 19-23, Habitat for Humanity NI is inviting church members, individually or in groups, to put their faith into action by joining a project based in Ballymena.

The charity has organised a special Building on Faith week from June 19 but we will need volunteers right through the summer.

Working together with Ballymena Methodist Church, Habitat will turn an empty, landmark building in the heart of Ballymena into much needed multi-purpose community space and three one bedroom apartments which will provide affordable accommodation for vulnerable young people.

Habitat seeks to put God’s love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Volunteers (aged 16 and over) are welcome to site during this week. (Anyone under 18 needs parental consent and parental/guardian supervision.)

During the lunch break each day, guest speakers will come on site to speak about ‘Faith in Action’ affirming the special nature of the week and giving extra motivation to volunteers.

Volunteers can expect a variety of tasks, including clearing the site, demolition work, plaster boarding, general building and eventually painting and decorating.
