Retreat for clergy couples

Monday June 25th 2018

The clergy couples’ retreat will be facilitated by the chair of the Church of Ireland Marriage Council and rector in Ballyclare, the Rev Jonny Campbell-Smyth and his wife Alison.

The Rev Jonny Campbell-Smyth and his wife Alison will facilitate the next clergy couples’ retreat hosted by the Church of Ireland Marriage Council.

Jonny, rector of the United Parish of Ballynure and Ballyeaston, Ballyclare, is the new Chair of the Church of Ireland Marriage Council.

Every two years the Council organises a retreat for clergy and their spouses. Supported by the House of Bishops, the retreat gives couples the opportunity to have a break away from the busyness of parish life and to be refreshed and strengthened in their relationships.

Dioceses rotate every two years in order that clergy couples across Ireland can benefit from the retreat.

This year’s retreat takes place at the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone, in November. The costs are borne mainly by the Marriage Council and each diocese, with a small contribution from each couple. Places are limited, so booking early would be recommended.

Jonny and Alison, who have been associated with the charity Care for the Family for more than 20 years, also facilitated at the 2016 Couples Retreat held in May 2016 in Sligo.
