Bruce Gardiner-Crehan, manager of South Belfast Foodbank, and the Rev Kevin Graham, rector of St Bartholomew’s, Stanmillis.

Bruce Gardiner-Crehan, manager of South Belfast Foodbank, spoke at the inaugural annual Service of Thanksgiving for the work of the Foodbank in the South Belfast area, held in St Bartholomew’s Parish Church, Stranmillis.

St Bartholomew’s is a founder member of the Foodbank, and the rector, the Rev Kevin Graham said the church was delighted to host this service.

“From the idea of a Foodbank in South Belfast to its inception and since, we have been delighted to partner with other churches in the area to assist those in food poverty,” Kevin said.

“It is sad, but that is the reality in 2018 and our Christian discipleship requires something of us.

“As we give thanks for the work done to date we are also challenged to not only continue but also to confront the root causes of food poverty and other kinds of poverty in the community around us.”
